Michelle began teaching physical fitness in her early 20’s. Her love of brutal challenges and the constant pursuit of progress continue as both a Coach and an Athlete. She consistently seeks to draw people out of their comfort zone and into the margins, where physical and personal growth occur.

For Michelle, fitness is a way of life. She brings it into each facet and uses it to strengthen herself both physically and mentally. Initially, Michelle focused her fitness on endurance exercise; track and tennis in high school, boxing in college and Kung Fu in her 20’s and early 30’s along with running and cycling. In 2012, Michelle was introduced to CrossFit in her garage by way of the CrossFit Hero WOD “Murph”. Experiencing the extreme challenge of this CrossFit workout at a time when Michelle believed she was in great shape was frustrating for her. In an effort to improve, she repeated this CrossFit workout weekly until she was satisfied with the progress.

Coaching and participating in CrossFit has entirely transformed Michelle’s life. She has observed and experienced the power in performing the work that CrossFit demands side by side with people, as well as the resulting transformation that occurs for everyone that truly commits. “My entire family has changed – we all enjoy watching and encouraging each other’s progress. My children are more confident because they continually amaze themselves physically and mentally. The best friendships I have were forged during the most grueling WODs in boxes all around the country.”

It doesn’t get any easier… You just get faster.

Courtney Osterfelt has been involved in team sports and athletics since she was a kid.   Throughout her adult years she has been a triathlete and a devoted rock climber.  Due to her love of climbing, Courtney has lived in some of the most beautiful places in the world, including Lander, Wyoming, Yosemite, California, and Krabi, Thailand.  Courtney fell in love with CrossFit when she discovered how well it complimented her climbing.  Throughout starting her own non-profit teen center for local youth, CrossFit kept her in shape for the rare weekends she could get out to climb.  Courtney is convinced that CrossFit helps people in all sports and athletic passions.  However, most importantly, she believes CrossFit helps people transform the way they perceive themselves, turning narratives of self-doubt and weakness, into stories of strength and pride.  Courtney received her L1 in June of 2016 and is honored to be part of the coaching team at Captain CrossFit.

I began doing CrossFit in 2012 with my late husband and part of his Hotshot crew.  As a new mom of two little girls, I remember feeling out of shape and intimidated walking in but soon after felt inspired by the athletes around me and how hard they worked regardless of their level of fitness. Seven months later I gave up a career in nursing and began a journey of adjusting to life as a widowed mom. CrossFit has been an outlet for a lot of pain and stress over the years.  I have a huge amount of gratitude for the sport and the support I have received from the community at Captain CrossFit.  I obtained my Level 1 Certification the end of 2016 and began coaching shortly after.  One of my goals as a coach is to teach others that making your physical health a priority leads to improved mental and emotional health and a better quality of life.

Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.

Brianna has been CrossFitting since June 2014. She fell in love with the sport immediately, which inspired her to diligently save her money, for well over a year, to attend the L1 Trainer’s Course.

Brianna received her L1 in October 2016. She has a passion for weightlifting, and holds numerous records in both lifts at the state and national level. She has been involved with sports all of her life, cycling through dance, gymnastics, swimming, and soccer; however, CrossFit has been the only one to really stick. It challenges her, yet shows her measurable progress, which is necessary for her to do her best.

Brianna also is an active participant in the YMCA aquatics facility, using her Lifeguarding Certification, as well as training others as a Lifeguard Instructor/CPR Instructor.

In the fall of 2017, Brianna will be attending post-secondary school for Biology/Pre-Physical Therapy, combining her love for learning with her love for sport.
